Emo makes you bleed

24 Feb

I didn't think it was possible for someone who wrote a book advocating internment camps to say something even stupider, but I was wrong. Michelle Malkin sunk to new lows with the comment that:

There is even a new genre of music — "emo" — associated with promoting the cutting culture.

Yes, listening to emo will make you cut yourself. In fact, I'm cutting myself right now. Of course, since I only listen to "mainstream" emo, not the hardcore emo, I'm using safety sissors.

Why censorship is dumb

22 Feb

If you use the iTunes Music Store you'll notice that dirty words are censored.  If you search for a song with the name Fuck in it, the results will change the word to F**k.  However, I think that this screenshot demonstrates the stupidity of such a scheme.  It is also telling that when you use the iTunes Link Maker, which I did to generate the example link, it displays the song titles without the censoring.

Crocodile rock

14 Jan

Who says the Germnsy don't know how to rock:

The hottest thing in German music right now is a 4-year-old girl's made-up song about a crocodile.

Joy Gruttman's song, "Snappy the Little Crocodile" ("Schnappi, das kleine Krokodil"), is the No. 1 song on the German charts. Her family posted the song on a Web site as a joke, but a radio station in Cologne, Germany, got hold of it and made it a hit.

Gruttman is the youngest recording artist to make it to the German Top 10, let alone No. 1.

"Snappy" beat out songs by Kylie Minogue and Linkin Park. The song is even appearing as remixes in German dance clubs.
